The cliff-top trails of Lands End overlook some of the wildest and most dramatic coastlines in the Bay Area. Reaching the labyrinth via the winding rock trails brings the cleansing relief of a destination achieved. Directions: Park behind the Cliff House at Point Lobos Ave and 48th Ave. Walk east on the Coastal Trail and take the offshoot trail to Mile Rock Beach. Descend the stairs. When the stairs turn sharply left, continue straight ahead on the trail. The labyrinth will soon come into view.

In the sleepy, idyllic town of Half Moon Bay, graced by some of the loveliest beaches in California, a walk along one of its many shoreline trails will lead you to this labyrinth. To wander its rock-lined aisles, accompanied by no sounds but the playful surfs and the flocking birds, is to discover in yourself, and in your environment, a place of peace and contentment. Directions: The Labyrinth is located on the left of the trail five minutes from the parking lot leading to Mavericks beneath the Pillar Point Air Force station.

This labyrinth, at the very highest point of McLaren Park, could be one of the most secluded places in San Francisco. Marked by the ash of old bonfires and accumulated debris, the McLaren Park Spiral offers a secluded retreat for the rugged urban dweller. Directions: Enter through Mansell St. from Persia Ave., and take a left at John F. Shelley Dr. Park in the parking lot about a mile further. Follow the trail leading from the parking lot, along the lake, and take the first trail branching off to your left into the woods.
